It’s amazing…I’ve been struggling along for several months now with a laptop that was well past its prime (I also loaded a ton of unnecessary junk on it as well - that could have something to do with it!), and I was growing very frustrated with the time I spent each day waiting for my computer.
Start it up - wait 15 minutes
Open Outlook - wait 15 minutes
I finally got to the point where I thought “I run an IT services company and I’m putting up with this?”, and then I caved a got a new one - a Dell laptop with dual processors and a ton of memory. I’m amazed at the performance boost.
It got me thinking. I wonder what the total cost is to the U.S. economy each year in productivity lost due to businesses hanging on to computer hardware longer than they should. I’m sure some economist has put together a model that makes an educated guess.
Whatever it is, why not evaluate your personal workspace and your office to see where you can give yourself a “boost”?
